Leaving, for uncharted seas Wednesday 25 July 2007 |

I've packed my bags countless times.
Each time I do, it brings excitement of expectacy, of venturing into the unknown.
Yet, this time, it's somewhat different.

It's not the clothing that's different, neither are the necessities.
It's the unexplainable feeling itself, of knowing that you're packing your life into them.
Yes, my life, in bags and boxes.

So this is what ppl mean with 'moving on'.

As happy as I am to take this step closer towards adulthood, why this sadness that sweeps me in waves then?

It's because I will miss you, the one who cheers me on.
I'll miss you, the one I call my friend.
I'll miss you, the one who eats with me.
I'll miss you, the one who makes me laugh.
I'll miss you, who shows that you really care.
I'll miss the times shared, those I hold dear to my heart.
I'll miss the memories together, because miracles don't come twice.
I'll miss being with you, just sitting beside you, as time grows still.

And I'm sorry that I have to leave.

To all who made the past 2 weeks one of the more memorable weeks of my life,
I thank thee.
Thank you for being my friend.
Thank you for caring enough to give me your best wishes.
Thank you for all your hugs and kisses.
But most of all, thank you... for remembering me.
(To those who didn't remember, it's ok, coz I still love you :P)

Take care my friend, while I brave the vibrant yet stormy seas.
Take heart my dear, that if you ever need me, I'm just a phone call away. And on the next plane home.

God bless.

- jess, left for Meowland -

PS: I'll be on a long hiatus, at least until I get the internet fixed in my new place. But it's ok, I know you know my number :)

Train to Memphis Monday 16 July 2007 |

Phew!

I've just spent today running around trying to settle all the stuff needed to ship my car over to Meowland.

Haven't stopped since 630am.

Bleah.

Life sucks when you're running hard, flailing around blindly trying to catch the last train to Memphis.
Or in my case, the last ship.

Not only it's about the paperwork, I have to get the car ready for shipment too.

I am tired.
And yet, the worst is still to come.

Haih.
Let's just hope I manage to catch it on time.

HK: Reeling it in Saturday 14 July 2007 |

While many of my friends toured Europe....

I decided to take the unconventional route....

And took on HongKong and Canada instead :)

And yes, to everyone who's asking me repeatedly,
I enjoyed myself tremendously :)

And like every other trip that I go on,
I learned much, and I grew up a lil more.

Seeing the difference in the way people live, and the way they interact, and the heritage they were brought up with, makes looking at life a changed perspective.

At least, in my eyes, it did.

I've much to write, since I DID disappear for a month, but think reading thru my daily itinerary can get boring after a while.

So I decided, just the highlights will do :)

(at least better than the two previous trips where I DIDN'T write anything coz I was too *cough cough* lazy *cough cough* busy to write :P)

Hongkong first la, ok? :P

So what does the shopaholic do in Hongkong?
:P

Lets just say that I think the people in the Esprit outlets can recognize me already :P
And that they're ready to give me their VIP card.
Haha :P

It's my second time in HongKong, and there's nothing much to do there besides shop and shop somemore :P

Stayed with my cousin sister and her family, and her place is huge (in HK context ok, not ours) with 6 rooms! And I'm just happy to have my own room :)

To be honest, didn't take much pictures in HK, coz:
1. Was too busy shopping/eating
2. Nothing very interesting to photograph

HK is a very busy place.
And chinese being chinese, everyone's always in a rush.
Seriously.
Small place, chockful with people rushing left and right, you do the math.

And travelling around HK can be a pain, mainly coz I stay far away from the city. Takes about an hour to just get there, and another hour back.
And to those who knows me, will know that I HATE BUS RIDES.
They make me sick, like literally. Bleah.. Yuck yuck :(

Think the only highlight of HK for me was going to Disneyland.
Yes, I ACTUALLY WENT to Disneyland.
(To all whom I've been telling that I would never ever step into Disneyland, can I take back my words now? :P Keke)
And I ACTUALLY enjoyed myself too :)
(Pics will be in a separate post)

Foodwise, HK food's ok la.
Ate a lot of nice seafood, ate even more street food, and things that I never thought I could get to eat :)
And even as I type this, I'm craving for my red bean ice now... Sigh.

That's all, I think.
Not much pics to show, but got a lot of clothes though. Haha.
Guess you can't have everything :P

The minimal pics that I took while I was there:

One of my fav pics taken with Annika, my niece.
She's like super cute ok! Talks English with that HK accent. Haha :P And she's loves to talk! :)
Oh, this was taken during the long car trip around HK. Just fyi, she's the one who wants to take the pic. Haha :P

Yummy food in HK!!
Glutinous balls with mango ice-cream! :)
Made famous by some chinese series. Haha

And I'm always game for everything and anything mango :P

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

What HK is famous for... Egg tarts! :)

Not that I'm a big fan, but since I'm there, I might as well eat :P Haha

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

My bird's nest egg tart with ginger juice.
Note that it's in bold because it was REALLY good :P Haha
And ya, those little teeny strips of stuff you see in it is suppose to be bird's nest. Don't know if it's real or not la. Coz didn't taste anything also. But then again, bird's nest memang no taste wan. Haha :P

Sorry no more pics of food coz I was either too lazy to take them/ too busy eating them :P Keke

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The compulsory pic.
Taken at the infamous spot whereby "If you go HK ah, sure must take pic there wan!!!"
So I ma take lor... Evidence that I was ACTUALLY in HK :P Haha

Just in case you're wondering, it's at the Arena of Stars, overlooking Hongkong island :) The building directly behind me is suppose to be their World Trade Center or something. I don't know, I didn't go. I was too busy shopping. Haha :P

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

With Uncle Jeff, cuz, Annika and Aunt Nek at Repulse Bay.
My trip would've been super boring/expensive if it wasn't for them taking me in and about :)
So thanks... For everything :)

That's it. Sorry la, so lil pics :(
But it's not very expensive to go HK, so you can go there and see it for yourself :P Haha

Conclusion?
Not a place that I would like to stay in, mainly because it's predominantly Chinese.
Would go there to shop though :P Keke

Oh, don't worry, got some more pics wan. But they are mainly of Disneyland :P

Next post next post!

:)

Will now leave you with two of my fav pics taken in HK :)

One of glorious sunset....

And the other, my absolute favourite.

A narrow miss |

I got a news today, and I'm still shocked.

Remember that I went water rafting about a month ago?

Apparently one of the girls that I went along with came down with leptospirosis!!
(Yes, you read correct. Leptospirosis!!)

Her condition turned so bad that she collapsed, had multiorgan failure and was admitted into the ICU for a week!!

:(

You know how we always rattle off differential diagnoses without blinking, thinking it's just routine stuff, but when it really does happen, and to someone you know, it brings a different light altogether.

Of the 11 of us whom all drank river water, she was the only one who was unfortunate enough to get it.

(And yes, just in case you're wondering, leptospirosis isn't very common)

All I can say is, I'm just glad she's alright now.

It's just scary to think that
'It could've been me.'

Yes, it could've been me.

Ayam beg + Meows Friday 13 July 2007 |

Kengkawan-kengkawan sekalian,

AYAM BEG!!! :P

Got miss me or not? Keke

And yes, it's been a month.
That's 1/12 of a year.
Amazing how time flies when you're having fun :P

And if you haven't heard,
I got my letter, and I'm officially posted to....

*drumroll*

MEOWLAND
*feel free to insert meows here*

Suppose to report in on 16th, but I managed to defer to 25th.
I'm not NUTS enough to be hopping off one plane into another within a span of 3 days.
And I'm still reeling in from the shock.
Yet to recover from it.
Bleah.

I've been running around since I came back settling truckloads of stuff, and I've still got so much to do before I leave.
I hate red tape.
And I hate paperwork too.

So am I looking forward to going?
Honestly?
I'm still looking for the answer.

Meowland was my second choice.
And as much as I'm asking the reason why things happen the way it does, I'll just go with the flow.
And I trust Him enough that things will work out fine.
He decides. I just follow.
And from what I know, He's never wrong.

I hope Kuching is ready for this crazy bunch, because history has shown that we have created earthquakes more than once. Haha :P
